The Motorcycle Diaries
Ernesto Guevara
I read this book as a complement to watching Salles' Motorcycle Diaries.

I definitely found Alberto Granado's companion book more entertaining and insightful.

Guevara's book is more poetical, more idealistic, and it definitely gives an insight into the mind of this rebellious youth, who thought that a revolution had to be tinted with blood to succeed.

Yet, I think one has to read these lines trying to picture the situation he was writing in, where there had been no attempt at social justice yet in South America. Later, in fact, any attempt to "socialize" politics, was met with interference from the United States and bloody civil repressions (Cile and Nicaragua).
